Built for neighbors, not networks.
Social media turned the world into one giant feed. We think your ZIP code is the perfect size for community.
Our Story
Zip Knowd started with a simple question: why is it easier to hear about a fire across the country than one two blocks away?
The moment it clicked
We were stuck in traffic on a normal Tuesday. No accidents on GPS, no news alerts — just a sea of brake lights. Ten minutes later, a neighbor posted: "Helicopter search on 4th & Elm. Avoid the area." That single post explained everything. It also revealed a gap — there was no fast, easy way for people to share what they see, live, with the folks who actually need to know.
ZIP codes just make sense
Neighborhoods already exist. ZIP codes already define them. We didn't need to invent communities — we just needed to give them a microphone. Zip Knowd lets you post in your home ZIP and browse any ZIP in the country. Visiting a new city? Peek into the local feed before you arrive. Hear sirens? Check the map to see if someone already posted an update.
For locals, by locals
We believe the people who live somewhere know it best. That's why we built trust tiers — from Member to Local GPS to Verified Local — so the community can build reputation naturally. And for local businesses, verified accounts can post Happy Hour specials and events directly to neighbors who care.
What we believe
These principles guide every feature we build.
Speed matters
Real-time updates from people on the ground. No algorithms. No delays.
Privacy first
Phone-auth identity, no public real names, and block/report tools that actually work.
Browse anywhere
You're rooted in your home ZIP, but the whole country is just a tap away.
Support local
Verified businesses can reach locals with Happy Hour deals and events.
Map-first thinking
Posts with location pins make it easy to see exactly where something is happening.
Neighborly tone
We encourage helpful, kind, local conversation. Toxicity has no ZIP code.
